Opening Of The Folk Art Exhibition
Lithuanian Museum of Applied Art
July 3
Nothing better depicts the nation than the artistic works of its people – the folk artists. They both implicate the spirit of traditions inherited from the ancestors and reflect the present of who we are today.
The traditional exposition of the Folk Art Exhibition will be composed of the folk art pieces created in the last five years, including exhibits of figurative (painting, graphics, sculpture), applied (textile, sashes, handicrafts, ceramics, blacksmithing, jewellery, woodcarving) arts and customary (verbos, Easter eggs, masks, straw hanging ornaments) folk arts and crafts, selected from regional exhibitions having estimating their artistic value and the reflection of traditions. As usually the exhibition will present around half thousand artists.
