Presentation of the Baltic Tribes’ Costumes

Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania

July 4

The atmosphere of the evening at the great Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania would put one back to the Middle Ages – the ancient Baltic tribes: the Lithuanians, the Samogitians, the Higher Lithuanians, the Curonians, the Sudovians, the Semigalians and the Selians – will enter the yard of the palace filled with sounds of music and lights. The costumes of the Baltic tribes from the 1st to the 14th centuries will be demonstrated. The collection of costumes, reflecting the wearing habits of peoples from the Iron Age, the Roman époque, the Viking Age and the Middle Ages, was reconstructed on the basis of the archaeological findings, historical data and the European iconography. An impressive collection of costumes is complemented with jewellery, leather accessories, work tools and arms.
